You Just Never Know...

I often play a game when I’m bored, waiting in line or sitting at the airport, as I watch the faces go by, wondering what any particular person’s story is.

For example, the lady at Subway who just made my sandwich…is this her only job? Does she have children she would rather be home with? What kinds of concerns are weighing her down? Or joys lifting her up? At this moment, I try to remember to offer a prayer up for this person’s benefit. It feels good to do that. We never know about the people we casually walk by and have contact with only in passing and what their lifestories may entail.

And sometimes, we know so little about the people we come in contact with on a daily basis. That’s why I’m passing on this story of Kumar written at a blog I enjoy checking out every now and then: Letters from Kamp Krusty.” I love to browse the Internet and it was there I came along this story by another blogger, Brant Hansen, entitled, “In the Cubicle Next Door.”(Click on link) For all the bad rap the Internet gets, it’s blogs like this that make me happy to be a part of an Internet world that spreads GOOD STUFF. I warn you though, if you start browsing, you’ll want to read another entry and another….and make sure you stop by at one of his recent entries, “Happy Are the Spiritually Bankrupt.” Big time GOOD STUFF. I hope you’ll find time to have a look!

Lord, purge our eyes to see
Within the seed a tree,
Within the glowing egg a bird,
Within the shroud a butterfly.

Till, taught by such we see
Beyond all creatures, Thee…
